MEPACT (also known as mifamurtide or MTP-PE) is a treatment for younger patients being treated for osteosarcoma. It is a new drug and not yet approved by NICE or the SMC for funding in the NHS. The process for approval was delayed by the General Election, but a decision is expected in July.

If a doctor wishes to prescribe MEPACT, approval must be sought for funding through a Primary Care Trust or local Health Board. This leaflet describes the process and suggests how the patient, parents/guardians and friends of the patient can support the application.
