Running Events
2008 saw over 300 fundraisers taking part in running events across the UK! Ranging from 5K fun runs to full marathons, each gave their all and helped to raise over £75,000 towards our work. So far in 2009, we have had over 120 runners and income is coming in thick and fast yet again. We still have places left in the Great South Run and the Royal Parks Half Marathon, so if you still want to join Team Bones for a running event this year, get in touch now to secure your place.

BUPA GREAT EDINBURGH RUN
SUNDAY 2 MAY 2010
The spectacular 10K Edinburgh route takes runners past some key city sites including Holyrood Park, the Scottish Parliament and the Royal mile. The event has been voted Scotland’s number one road race by readers of Runners World. The event makes up a weekend of great running because the Tesco Junior and Mini Great Edinburgh Run take place in the Meadows on Saturday 1 May.
Anyone who wants to join Team Bones in this fantastic event will need to apply through the BUPA ballot system. For details go to www.greatrun.org/Event Entry is £26 and we are asking runners in the Great Edinburgh Run to raise as much as possible

BUPA GREAT MANCHESTER RUN

The BUPA Great Manchester Run is recognised as one of the World’s premier 10K running events and takes in the sites of Manchester’s vibrant city centre.
Bone Cancer Research Trust has secured a number of guaranteed places for this run. We are asking each participant to pay their registration fee of £30 and then pledge to raise a minimum of just £150. JANE TOMLINSON’S RUN FOR ALL – HULL
SUNDAY 23 MAY 2010
The inaugural Hull 10K, Run for All will take place on Sunday 23 May and will pass through the highlights of the City, both old and new. Starting in the picturesque Queen’s Gardens area it will take in the Guildhall, Maritime Museum and then along the waterfront past the Deep and Hull Marina, with the iconic Humber Bridge in the distance. Teams are being entered by all of the city’s major sporting clubs: Hull KR, Hull City FC and Hull FC so join in and run to help us to raise valuable funds towards our work.
We have 25 guaranteed places available for the Hull 10K, so if you want to join us, please register your interest by emailing david@bonecancerresearch.org.uk or telephone the fundraising office on 0113 2621852 and we will send you a registration form and further details as soon as they are available.
The Hull 10K, Run for All event is designed for runners of all levels, so whether you run, walk, wheel or hop it, the Hull 10K will happily accommodate you and you will be supported through every kilometre.

JANE TOMLINSON’S RUN FOR ALL – LEEDS

Over 250 runners have joined Team Bones in the Leeds 10K, Run for All over the past three years raising over £35,000. The event is not only a fantastic event for us to raise funds, but also with so many people running in BCRT colours, it is a brilliant way for you to help us raise vital awareness of BCRT and our work.
Join us in 2010 and join the 10,000 other runners in this great event. With their strap line of run it, walk it, wheel it, hop it, the Run for All events really are for people of all abilities. Whether you can run round in half an hour, or plan on walking it in two, the crowds will cheer you on all the way to the finish line.
Each participant is asked to pay the registration fee of £20 and then just to raise as much sponsorship as you can towards our work. The inaugural York 10K, Run for All was a huge success and a run that was enjoyed by all. The route along the river and through the centre of York was stunning, and for those of you who enjoy a scenic run, this is the one for you!

As with the Leeds 10K, the event is designed for runners of all levels, so whether you run, walk, wheel or hop it, the York 10K will happily accommodate you and you will be supported through every kilometre.

BUPA GREAT NORTH RUN
SUNDAY 19 SEPTEMBER 2010
The BUPA Great North Run is the world’s biggest half marathon, with 50,000 runners expected to take part in the 28th running of the event in 2010. The course is point-to-point starting in Newcastle and finishing in South Shields crossing over the famous Tyne Bridge on the way.
The Bone Cancer Research Trust has a limited number of guaranteed places available for this run. We ask each participant to pay their registration fee of £40 and then pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship of just £285. If you are interested in joining Team Bones in the BUPA Great North Run, please email david@bonecancerresearch.org.uk or call the fundraising office on 0113 2621852 and we will send you a registration form as soon as they are available.
We also ask that anyone who wants to run for Team Bones also applies through the BUPA ballot system, this will mean that we can offer our places to people who are unable to get a place in this way and will have as many people as possible running for Team Bones.

ROYAL PARKS HALF MARATHON
SUNDAY 10 OCTOBER 2010
The Bone Cancer Research Trust has secured 100 places in the Royal Parks Half Marathon, which is taking place on 12 October 2008. You could be one of the 12,500 runners who will race through four Royal Parks, taking in superb views of Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Marble Arch and the Royal Albert Hall.
Over 200 runners have joined Team Bones in the first two Royal Parks Half Marathon Events, and by the end of the year will have raised over £100,000. Help us to build on this success by joining Team Bones for the 2010 run. If the London Marathon is just too far, or you can’t get a place, this event is a fantastic alternative, which takes in some great sites in the centre of London.
We ask each participant to pay their registration fee of £40 and then pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship of just £275. We will also be greeting all of our runners following this run at our site in the charity marquee in the People’s Village.
